The grass in a sunny hot area of your yard needs constant mowing and trimming. You want to replace it with a ground cover that can take the heat and never needs mowing. So you’re wondering, what can I replace my grass with?

try planting ornamental peanut

ORNAMENTAL PEANUT

  • Ornamental Peanut (OP) is a slow-growing ground cover that’s light green in color. It blooms with small yellow flowers periodically.
  • OP can take the heat of direct Florida sun.
  • Because OP is a legume, it has the added benefit of fixing or holding nitrogen in the soil. This means it enriches the soil for the plants that surround it, and less fertilizing for you.
  • I would not plant an entire yard with OP, it looks best complementing grass in a swale or as a border for landscaping groups. Note that OP is not soft on bare feet like regular grass!

I snapped these photos at the new downtown Boca Raton Library, where they planted OP in the swales of the parking lot. It only has to be edged periodically and NEVER needs to be mowed. If every South Florida city council did this think how much $$ taxpayers would save over time.

It's possible

Never worry about what to eat again

How amazing would it be to feel confident and clear about your eating during the week, on weekends, and even while traveling or during the holidays.
